OFFSHORE WASTE
In May 2023, XPO Marine was awarded a 10-year contract (PLUS 10) for the collection of waste from offshore terminals, platforms and vessels on behalf of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
The contract was flagged off on the 1st of March 2024 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with the presence of all the representatives of both the International/Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry, NIMASA, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) etc.
THE SCOPE
The scope of the work is to primarily ensure that:
Nigeria complies with international waste management standards as prescribed by the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution by Ships (MARPOL).
Nigeria’s Ocean Zones and are protected from environmental pollution and are utilized with sustainable development in mind.
The operation kicked off within 24hour after the flag-off by the Agency and XPO have been operating offshore with a leased vessel to carry out the inspection and waste management activities to demonstrate our readiness and capability of the concession agreement as signed by both parties. “XPO” & “NIMASA”.
